Transfer Station: There has been an application made to the TCEQ for a solid waste transfer station in the Dayton area by K2 Waste Solutions that owns LT’s Garbage Service. The application says the facility will have a covered transfer building equipped with a central pit area that will be accessed by a ramp that allows for empty collection bins to be lowered into the pit and then removed when full. The 100 x 150 ft building will be partially enclosed for protection against wind, rain and will also have floor drains to carry away wash water. Contaminated water would be directed to a holding tank for periodic pumping and disposal at a TCEQ approved facility.
Lowe Go Fund Me Account: We reported decorated combat Air National Guard Warrant Officer-1 Lucas Lowe of Hardin was killed in an Apache helicopter that crashed in Galveston Bay in late December. A Go Fund Me page has been set up to benefit Lowe’s widow, Kami. She is pregnant with twins. If you would like to make a donation, a quick online search for “Go Fund Me” will find the main page - from there type Lucas Lowe into their search. So far, more than $40,000 has been pledged from across the country to help this young widow.
