DaytonTraffic: Dayton Police Sgt. John Coleman said traffic in Dayton is always an issue the first few days of a new school year. Sgt. Coleman said there will be additional officers in school zones today directing traffic. Drivers are urged to watch for officers directing traffic. Sgt. Coleman said Hwy 321 around Dayton High is always a busy place. Another reminder: North Winfree and South Cleveland streets in Dayton are one-way only during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup times at Nottingham, Stephen F. Austin, and Dr. E.R. Richter elementary schools. Those school zones are clearly marked with signage.


Ram Challenge: The Liberty Athletic Booster Club had a successful fund-raiser Friday night, thanks to Liberty - Dayton Chrysler, the Ram Gridiron Challenge and local football fans. We reported the Ram Brand was donating $20 per test drive to the booster club's efforts, up to $5,000. Athletic Director Chad Taylor said more then enough Panther supporters test drove a new Ram truck to help the booster club achieve that maximum donation.


Diabetes Self Management: Keeping track of diet and blood sugar levels for diabetics can be a matter of life and death. Houston Methodist San Jacinto Hospital in Baytown's Diabetes expert Jennifer Litaker said the hospital offers a program that emphasizes self management of diabetes. Jennifer Litaker said the program is available through physician referrals.
