Trailer Home Accident: Liberty County Sheriffs Capt. Ken DeFoor said Neal VanCauwendergh, age 56, was working to level a mobile home on CR 2230 in the Tarkington area Sunday morning. Reports said the trailer house was up on blocks while he was working, and those blocks reportedly shifted. The mobile home fell on VanCauwendergh. Other workers managed to pull the victim from underneath the dwelling. There is no information on the extent of the man's injuries, but Captain DeFoor said he was conscious and talking to emergency personnel at the time he was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.

Honey Harvest Day: The Liberty County Beekeepers club is holding a honey harvest day this Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Liberty County Extension Service on Palmer in Liberty. Club Secretary Cameron Crane said it's a free opportunity to learn about beekeeping and honey extraction. There will be an enclosed observation hive, bee hive equipment and a demonstration of de-capping and honey extraction. In addition, those Liberty County beekeepers will be selling locally harvested honey. For more call (936) 334 3230.

Bridgehaven: Tickets are on sale now for Bridgehaven Children's Advocacy Center's Purse Bingo Fundraiser. The fun filled event combines bingo and designer purses to raise money for the non-profit organization. Bridgehaven is dedicated to helping abused and neglected children in Liberty and Chambers Counties. "Purse Bingo" is Saturday July 26, at the new Liberty County Community Center - now to be called the Jack Hartel Building - on San Jacinto in Liberty. Doors open at 1 p.m. Bingo begins at 2:15.
