Murder Charges: Two men have been charged with murder for the July 4thshooting death of a Pasadena woman at the Double B Oaks Club on Highway 146, five miles south of Dayton. Liberty County Sheriff's Capt. Ken DeFoor said the victim - 46-year-old Yolanda Santos - died at Memorial Hermann Hospital after being transported from the scene by Life Flight air ambulance. Captain DeFoor said the two shooters fled but were stopped a short time later on Highway 90 at FM 1409 by Dayton Police. Investigators located a 9 mm semi-automatic gun with an empty clip inside their truck. Both 51-year-old Bobby Smith of Dayton and his brother, Tracy Lee Thorn, 56, of San Antonio, are in Liberty County Jail charged with murder. At last report, neither man had gone before a judge for a bond hearing. That is expected to take place sometime today.

Trailer Fire: A single-wide trailer home on County Road 2072 near Hardin was destroyed by fire Saturday afternoon. Hardin Volunteer Fire Department responded to a report of a dwelling that was fully engulfed. Hardin firefighters called for mutual aid from Liberty, Hull-Daisetta and Saratoga volunteer fire departments. Hardin Fire Chief Craig Powell said that trailer home and all its contents were destroyed. No injuries were reported. Investigation into the blaze continues, but Chief Powell said the cause of that Saturday afternoon fire on C.R. 2072 appears to be electrical.
