Life in Prison: A 52-year-old Dayton man has been sentenced to life in prison, without the possibility of parole, by a jury in the 75th District Court of Judge Mark Morefield. Christopher Wesley Parks was convicted last week of Sexual Assault of a Child - Continuous.

Back in Jail: A Liberty County man indicted in the 2011 hit-and-run death of a Dayton teen is now in Chambers County Jail on a drug charge. Jail records show Michael Shane Linkinhoker, 33, was arrested May 28 for Possession of a Controlled Substance. We've reported he continues to await trial in Liberty County for allegedly running down and killing 15-year-old Charlie Gore of Dayton. Linkinhoker was free on bond from that charge when arrested in late May down in Chambers County. At last report, Shane Linkinhoker remains in jail there with bail set this time at $10,000.

Free Lunch Programs: The very popular Hunger Busters free summer lunch program continues through early August at 10 sites throughout the Liberty school district. They also are serving breakfast each Monday through Thursday at one site - Liberty Middle School. For details, call 936-336-2673. A similar program is also under way in the north end of Liberty County where the Cleveland and Tarkington school districts are partnering to provide children with free breakfast at three locations and lunch at six. For details on that program that continues through July 2, call 281-592-8752. As for students in the Dayton school district, their free summer nutrition program kicks off July 21 and goes through August 8. For more on that, call Dayton ISD at 936-258-2667.

Dayton Pool: The City of Dayton swimming pool in Daniel Park is open for the summer. Hours are Tues. through Fri. from noon to 6, Sat. from 11 to 5, and Sun. from 2 to 5. Cost is $2 for children ages 2 to 15 and senior citizens. Admission for ages 16 and up is $4. For more, call 936-258-9016.
