Early Voting: Early voting is today through Friday in the May 27 primary party runoff elections. The Republican ballot includes races for county judge, county commissioner Pct 4, U.S. Congressional District 36 plus several statewide races. The Democrat runoff features two statewide contests. Early voting is today through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at three locations - the new Liberty County Community Center on San Jacinto street in Liberty, the Courthouse Annex in Cleveland and the Dayton Community Center. There's also early voting each day from 3 to 7 p.m. at Hardin City Hall. A reminder, those who cast a ballot in the March primary can only vote in that same party's primary runoff election. Registered voters who didn't vote at all on March 4 can cast a ballot in either the Republican or Democrat party's primary runoff. For info, call 936-336-4670.

Rainfall: Although the rainfall total for 2014 is well below average, rainfall is still higher than what was recorded for the same period last year. This year, from January 1 through May 13, the National Weather Service official rain gauge at KSHN Radio has recorded 15.13 inches of rain. That is 6.93 inches below the four-month average of 22.06 inches. Of note, 2013 started out far dryer. In 2013, only 3.17 inches of rain was recorded from January through the end of May.
