Election Results: Here are results from Saturday's city and school elections. They are unofficial until canvassed by the respective legislative bodies. Voting for Dayton City Council shows incumbents Dwight Pruitt, Jeff Lambright and Sherial Lawson each retained their council seats. The Dayton ISD Board had two contested races with incumbents Thomas Payne and Bob Pickle both winning reelection. Turning to the City of Daisetta, interim mayor Deborah Fregia won election. In the three contested races for the Hull-Daisetta school board, Mike Fregia, David McClusky and Gary Nell Harrison are the unofficial winners. In the City of Cleveland, newcomer James Franklin and incumbent Delores Terry won election. There was one contested position for Cleveland ISD trustee. Unofficially, challenger Tammy Tulles unseated the incumbent.

Hardin ISD Election: Hardin ISD voters have approved a $16.8 million bond election to build a new elementary school campus plus a career and vocational educational building. Unofficial totals show 438 votes in favor of that bond with 297 opposed. Trustees are expected to canvass that election next Monday, May 19. The Hardin school board also had one contested trustee position on the ballot with Alan Tidwell winning election. Tidwell is a principal in the Hardin school district, a position he will have to resign before being sworn in as a school trustee.

Veterans Parade: The Liberty County D-Day Parade will be held on June 7 in Liberty. Although the parade is specially intended to honor World War II vets, military veterans of all ages - men and women from all branches of service - are urged to take part. For info, call 936-334-2017 or 336-3716.

Playoffs: The Barbers Hill Lady Eagles and Huffman-Hargave Lady Falcons softball teams have advanced to the Regional Semifinals. Local softball teams bowing out of the state playoffs over the weekend include the Liberty Lady Panthers and Dayton Lady Broncos. Turning to baseball, the Dayton Broncos, Crosby Cougars and Barbers Hill Eagles boys all lost their best-of-three Area round series over the weekend.

Obituaries: Marguerite Francis Stuckey DeSha, 91. Service is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stacy Cemetery in Devers.
