Fatality Accident: A one-vehicle accident west of Dayton on County Road 605 at C.R. 611 claimed the life of a 35-year-old Dayton woman yesterday morning. According to DPS troopers, the woman was traveling eastbound on C.R. 605 when she disregarded a stop sign, crossed C.R. 611 and crashed into a ditch. The impact caused extensive damage to the car, breaking the steering column. The DPS report says heavy fog was likely a factor in that fatality wreck. At last report, the woman’s name had not been released by DPS.

Liberty Police Station: Construction on the new Liberty Police Department facility is on schedule for completion this July. That’s according to Liberty City Manager Gary Broz. He said much of the framing is complete, it is under roof now, and the windows will be installed in a few days. The $2.6 million project is being completed with $1.1 million in federal grant funds, mostly from Hurricane Ike recovery money.

Parker Park: The City of Dayton is working on a couple of projects within the city that are designed to improve quality of life. Dayton City Manager David Douglas said they are rearranging what makes up Parker Park on N. Winfree to add more space for soccer and T-ball practice fields. City crews will relocate playground equipment to the south side of the park. The pump stations that are in that location will be removed. Mr. Douglas said, hopefully, by summer they should have at least two practice fields available for public use at that location.
