Commissioners: Liberty County Commissioners approved accepting a grant from the Southeast Texas Regional Advisory Council for double what Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Branch had applied for. The grant of $176,000 will be used for communications equipment for EMS and 1StResponders in the county. The grant is a non-matching grant meaning there is no money to be spent directly from Liberty Co. required.

Additional Info: KSHN Radio has received more information on the case of Bart Moss, the 35 year old Liberty Man who pled guilty in connection with the theft of A/C equipment. While he was sentenced to 5 years deferred adjudication probation, he was not released as was first thought. Information indicates Moss has been placed in what is called an “in-house” drug treatment program as a condition of his probation and will remain in custody during treatment. In addition, the Liberty Co. Attorney’s office has filed a second probation revocation warrant against Bart Moss in an unrelated criminal mischief charge.

Prostate Screening: The Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center and KSHN Radio free prostrate screening clinic is this Saturday from 8 a.m. until noon at the hospital. Both the D.R.E., or Digital Rectal Exam and the blood test called P.S.A. or Prostate Specific Antigen are included. These free screenings will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. Results will be sent by mail shortly after Saturday’s testing.
