Moss Released: Bart Moss age 35, of Liberty was given another probated sentence after pleading guilty to the theft of $146,000 in air conditioning units. According to Liberty police, Moss was arrested in late December in connection with the theft of a/c units from outside the former Liberty Co. Project on Aging. Moss, who has an extensive criminal history, was only two months into a five year probation sentence for two previous theft charges. Just days after his release on bond for the A/C theft case, Bart Moss was arrested again, this time on a probation revocation warrant. Then, last Friday, Bart Moss pled guilty to involvement in the A/C thefts. Court records say he was again sentenced to five years deferred adjudication probation and released. This is a type of probation that allows for the conviction to be removed from an individual’s record if they successfully complete the terms of their probation. Moss is also a suspect in the A/C thefts at Brookshire’s in Liberty.

Rainfall: For the fourth year in a row, Liberty County received below-average rainfall during 2013. Now, only the very southeast tip of the county is considered abnormally dry. KSHN maintains the official records for the U.S. Weather Service in Liberty County. The yearly average for rain here is 61.25 inches. For all of 2013 total rainfall in the City of Liberty, at the official gauge, was 51.42 inches. For the past four years, we are now a staggering 70.15 inches behind the normal rainfall total for the past 48-month period.
