Drug Bust: Four Liberty County residents, Clinton Laudermill, and Toni Lang both of Tarkington, Liberty resident Elisha Blanchard, and Tonia Small of Daisetta as well as Trinity County resident, Jason Hill, were all jailed on drug charges Friday morning. Liberty County Sheriffs Captain Ken Defoor said the arrests were the result of a cooperative law enforcement effort that uncovered a methamphetamine lab as well as items stolen in a string of burglaries.

Armored Card Fire: An armored car was destroyed by fire yesterday afternoon shortly before 2 p.m. in front of Devers City Hall on Highway 90. The Liberty County Sheriffs Department reports the Loomis armored transport vehicle’s engine caught fire and the flames quickly spread. The company armed guards were able to unload the cash, and the sheriffs department responded for security. Firefighters from Hull-Daisetta and Devers put out the fire. There were no injuries.

This Friday the Cognosante Group will have trained health insurance assistors at the Liberty Municipal Library from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It’s a free event.

Health Fair: Thursday January 30th, the Dayton Community Center will hold their 3rdfree Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The health fair is sponsored by Memorial Herman Hospital and the City of Dayton. Director Amanda Wilson said the event keeps getting bigger every year with more health care industry vendors on hand to provide the public with free screenings and valuable information.
