Daniel House at Sam Center Burglarized: Liberty police are investigating a Friday break-in at the Jean and Price Daniel House on the grounds of the Sam Houston Center. Liberty Police Det. Chip Fairchild said stolen items include silverware, trays and bowls. Some items may have unique engraving and designs. Anyone with info is asked to call Liberty PD at 936-336-5666.


Power Outage: Saturday night’s much planned for and talked about City of Liberty power outage went off without a hitch. Liberty City Manager Gary Broz expressed his gratitude to city workers and contractors for their hard work and local residents for their cooperation. The power outage enabled the city to near completion of a $3.6 million electrical substation that will power Boomerang Tube. The equipment and work is being paid for by Boomerang through a facility charge on their electric bill. City officials say that substation also has additional capacity that could be used to lure other industry to that area of Liberty. While the electric power was out, the city also repaired utility poles at Grand and Main Street that were damaged during a vehicle accident several months ago.


Robbery Trial: Jury selection is today in the 75thDistrict Court of Mark Morefield in the trial of 30-year-old Ariel Megel Harrison. Court records show he’s accused of an aggravated robbery that took place in Cleveland on Dec. 31 of last year.


Criminal Mischief: Liberty police report two men have been arrested for criminal mischief related to the recent outage of cable, internet and phone service in the City of Liberty. We had reported a Comcast fiber cable along Highway 90 at Texaco Road was cut back on Friday, December 6. While the police investigation is ongoing, 38-year-old Benjamin Michel Alexan-der of Liberty and 33-year-old Bobby Lynn Nettles of Crosby have been charged with that state-jail felony.
