Prop 3 and 4: Currently, taxing entities in Texasare allowed to exempt certain items from taxes for a period of 140 days.  Constitutional Amendment Proposition #3 would allow that exemption to be extended to 24 months, if the local taxing entitles wanted, for aircraft parts. State Representative John Otto said that extension would be at the discretion of the local taxing authorities. Proposed amendment #4 to the Texasconstitution would, if approved by voters, allow an exemption to property taxes for disabled veterans who were given their homestead through a charitable organization. Such exemptions are already available to those disabled veterans who obtained their homes in a more traditional manner. State Rep. John Otto said the percentage of exemption would be equal to the percentage of disability suffered by the veteran.
