Fatality Wreck: A two vehicle crash between FM 1010 and the next overpass on the new 105 Bypass in north Liberty County Wednesday morning resulted in one fatality. Few details of the Department of Public Safety investigation were available but we have confirmed the crash between a pickup truck and a large commercial dump truck claimed the life of one person in the pickup.  A woman passenger was airlifted to MemorialHermannHospitalin Houston.

Photo ID Law: The upcoming November 5thTexas Constitutional Amendment Election is the first requiring voters to show photo identification before casting a ballot. Liberty County Clerk Paulette Williams said basic forms of photo ID that will be accepted at the voting box include a Texasdriver’s license, Texas Election Identification Certificate, Texaspersonal ID, Texas Concealed Handgun license, US Military ID card with photo, UScitizenship certificate with photo, or a USpassport. For information call the Liberty Co. Clerk’s office at 336 4670.

Senator Nichols: The Texas Legislature made significant changes to the state’s school accountability program this past session. That included reducing the number of standardized tests students are required to take in order to graduate. State Senator Robert Nichols said lawmakers made other changes to the public school system. But the number one priority for school officials, teachers, and parents he talked with, was to have fewer testing days and more teaching days.
