UILBand Competition: LibertyHigh was one of four Liberty County Schools competing in last Saturday’s UILRegion 10 Marching Band Competition. The Liberty Panther Band achieved the highest score possible with 3 judges each awarding their performance top division score. Libertynow moves on to Area Marching Band Competition in Nacogdocheson October 26th. Also advancing to area competition is the Hull Daisetta Bobcat Band with two Division Two ratings and one Division Three score. The Daytonand Hardin bands also performed well Saturday, but will not advance to area. The Hardin Hornets Band received a 2, 2 and 1 rating. The Dayton Bronco band earned three Division Two ratings. Cleveland and Tarkington are marching today in another region.

Teen Driver Safety: National Teen Driver Safety Week continues though this Saturday. Experts say motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for teens. A new study by the Texas A&M Transportation Institute reports that drivers ages 15-17 are not only at a disadvantage due to their lack of experience but also due to the incomplete development of the prefrontal cortex of the brain.
