Scam: Dayton Police Chief John Headrick is advising citizens to be aware of scam artists working the area.  The police chief said his department has received complaints of homeowners being approached with offers to do driveway work, such as resealing. Once the work is completed, it is often sub-par, and a highly inflated payment is demanded. Chief Headrick said if a person is approached with this type of offer, they can ask if their company has a permit to do such work in the city – and if told yes, call city hall and confirm that is the case.


Alleged Rape: The Cleveland Police Department is investigating the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl. Cleveland Police Captain Scott Felts said the parents filed a complaint on Tuesday alleging the sexual assault took place some time last weekend. Captain Felts said the investigation is in the early stages. Investigators are currently gathering facts and searching for a possible crime scene. We will have more when available.


Hogs: TexasExtension Service’s Feral Hog Management Specialist Mark Tyson said property owners trying to address the problem with feral hogs can shoot or trap them; they can not poison the animals. That is illegal. Shooting hogs inside city limits is most often prohibited by city ordinance. The local county agri-life extension office has a series of six full color brochures with information on recognizing and dealing with feral hogs. For more information call (936) 334-3230.


VietnamWall: The Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall is coming to Clevelandnext week. The half-size traveling replica of the Vietnam Memorial will be on display at the American Legion Post 393 in Cleveland starting Next Thursday, October 10, through Monday October 14. It will be open to the public 24 hours a day. Admission is free. For all who have seen it – this is one of those never to be forgotten experiences.
