LISD Policies: Liberty School Trustees reviewed a change in policy Tuesday night in reference to valedictorian or salutatorian honors.  The newly altered policy says to be eligible for either of the top honors; a student shall be continuously enrolled in the district for the four full semesters preceding graduation. To be eligible a student will now be required to be enrolled at Liberty High School by the sixth school day of the first semester of their junior year.  Anther change for the upcoming year, the start time bell for Liberty High and Liberty Middle school have been moved to 7:45 a.m. with dismissal at 3:30 p.m. Liberty Elementary and San Jacinto Elementary remain from 8 a.m. to 3:20 p.m.


New JP: Liberty County Commissioners met in special session Tuesday morning and named Ralph Fuller as the new Justice of the Peace for Precinct 6 replacing retired JP Peggy Dunn for the Cleveland Area. Fuller was the environmental officer for the Liberty County Sheriffs Department prior to this appointment.


McDuffie Arrested: A longtime Liberty County law officer and former Cleveland City Council member was arrested Monday by the Department of Public Safety. Cedric McDuffie is charged with two counts of operating a security service without a license. The charge is a misdemeanor. Information from the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office is that McDuffie was arrested Monday and booked into the Jefferson County Jail. He has since been released on bond. McDuffie was a Liberty Police Officer for many years and was serving as an unpaid reserve deputy for Precinct #6 Constable John Joslin. Constable Joslin confirmed McDuffie resigned that position upon learning he was the subject of a DPS investigation.
