Burnham Classic: This past weekend’s 24thAnnual Burnham Classic has been hailed another huge success. While the total for this year’s event has not yet been tallied, Bruce Burnham is sure they raised over $20,000 to add to the more than $452,000 presented to Tri-County Services since the tournament’s inception. Tops in the Championship Flight; Kyle Pritchard and Kevin Reed. Presidential Flight: Corey Romero and David Jones were first. The Burnham Classic First Flight champions were Rev. Lyndsey Smith and car dealer Bill Brackin. In the Second Flight, Curtis Pardon and Hugo Flores topped the field. Best in Third Flight: the duo of Bryan Bell and Andrew Moss. Winners in the Fourth Flight were Mike Templeton and Ben Wood. This year’s tourney was held in memory of tournament co-founder J.C. Burnham.


Disabled Hunters: Archery season for deer hunting opens in Liberty County on September 28th.  The first day the Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge will take applications for the upcoming hunting season is August 19th. That will include those who have disabilities. According to Trinity River Refuge Office Assistant Bonnie Campisi, the areas designated for disabled hunters have changed this year. Refuge Manager Stuart Marcus said in addition, they will be more stringent in who will qualify as disabled. Waldrop Named to Hall of Fame: Long time KSHN announcer, Andy Waldrop has been named to the Texas Radio Hall of Fame. He will be inducted in ceremonies this November to be held in Dallas. Other area radio elite who will be inducted this year include Jim Ray formerly of the Clear Channel stations in Beaumont, and Jack Pieper of KLVI Radio in Beaumont.
