New Abortion Regulations: Texas State Representative John Otto said he was in favor of the bill that added additional regulations and restriction on abortion’s and providers in the state. John Otto said two sections of the bill, he supported, were the ban on the procedure at 20 weeks of pregnancy, and the expanded regulations for care required inside the clinics that offer abortion services. Clinics that provide abortions in Texas have one year to bring their clinic up to the same standards of any ambulatory surgical facility.  State Rep. John Otto said he expects the bill to be challenged in court.

Hunger Busters: The Hunger Busters summer free lunch program continues through Friday August 9th. The program is federally funded and administered locally by volunteers and Liberty ISD to make sure kids have a nutritious mid-day meal each weekday during the summer months when school is not in session. Bayside Clinic: Bayside Clinic in Anahuacwas founded in 1996 as the first rural health clinic in ChambersCounty.  Kaley Smith, Executive Director for Bayside Clinic for the past 3 ½ years, said they offer most primary care services including a recently added dentist. Kalay Smith said this is the first dentist practicing in Anahuacin more than 10 years. Ms. Smith said they have also on staff a physician and two physicians’ assistants available to treat patients.
