Dayton Shooting: A Channelview man was taken to a Houston hospital by air ambulance early yesterday morning following a shooting in Dayton. According to Dayton Police Sgt. Doug O’Quinn, Charles Morgan was shot in the face with a handgun Sunday around 1 a.m. at a house on the corner of Winfree and Kay streets in Dayton. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight air ambulance. Sgt. O’Quinn said Morgan is expected to survive but is in serious condition. An arrest warrant has been issued for Jamie Taylor, who is said to bounce back and forth between Channelview and Liberty. Sgt. O’Quinn said their investigation so far indicates Taylor pulled a pistol and shot the other man during an argument. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Jamie Taylor is asked to call Dayton PD at 936-258-7621.

Burn Ban: Despite the rainfall our area has received during the past few days, conditions in Liberty County remain dry and the ban against outdoor burning is still in effect. That burn ban is for unincorporated areas of Liberty County. The cities of Liberty, Dayton and Cleveland each have their own restrictions against open burning that apply year around inside those cities’ limits.

Broncos Tickets: Season tickets for the Dayton Broncos’ five 2013 varsity football home games go on sale beginning Monday, August 5, and continue through August 16. Those season tickets will be sold at the tax office in the Dayton ISD administration building, 100 Cherry Creek Road. Office hours are weekdays from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. The Broncos first home game is September 6 versus the Livingston Lions.
