High School Graduations: There are 120 seniors in the 2013 graduating class at Liberty High School. Graduation ceremonies are tonight at 8 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The 2013 LHS Valedictorian is Erin Zachary, Tierney Young is Salutatorian while Cori Clevenger will also be recognized as the top academically ranked student. Graduation for 342 students at Dayton High School is tomorrow night at 8 p.m. in Bronco Stadium. The DHS Valedictorian is Derek Fregia. Salutatorian honors go to Obed Guevara. Hardin held their graduation ceremony May 31stfor 74 members of the class of 2013. The HHS Valedictorian is Ebony Hamilton; the Hardin Salutatorian is Morgan Sobol. Hull Daisetta also held graduation ceremonies on May 31st. Valedictorian honors at H-DHS went to Betty Ann Ballard while Jaylyn McBride was named Salutatorian. In all 41 seniors graduated from H-D this year.

Theft: The Liberty County Sheriffs Department is investigating the theft of $150,000 to $200,000 in equipment taken from the Moss Bluff Volunteer Fire Department as well as the theft of a Texas A & M Forest Service boat. There is a $4,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible in the fire department theft. Sheriff’s Captain Ken DeFoor said anyone with information on either crime is asked to call (936) 336 4500. Your identity will be confidential.

Cowboy Classic: The 17thAnnual Cowboy Classic Golf Tournament is set for Saturday June 29that the Magnolia Ridge County Club in Liberty. Sponsored by the Houston Metro Go Texan Committee of Liberty County, the tournament benefits the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship Fund which awards Liberty County students tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships each year.
