Hunger Busters: The popular Hunger Busters summer free lunch program kicks off next Monday at 10 sites throughout Liberty. It is sponsored by volunteers and the Liberty ISD. The main site is Liberty Middle School on Jefferson Drive.  For a complete listing of all sites, call Alexis Cordova during business hours at 936-334-3230.  Although times may vary from site to site, the target hour for serving meals is from 11 a.m. to noon. The Hunger Busters program is funded through federal grants.


DaytonPool: The Dayton swimming pool at Daniel Park is now open to the public Tuesday through Friday, noon until 6 p.m. Saturday hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sundays from 2 to 5 p.m. Lifeguards are on duty during all hours of operation.  Swimming lessons at Daniel Park Pool are open to anyone for $100 for the two weeks of lessons. For special needs individuals, lessons are $50 for one week. The pool is also available for private parties at $150 per hour. LISD Election: Early voting in the June 15 Liberty school board election begins today at the Liberty Center in City Hall. The election is to break a tie from the May 11 board election that saw incumbent June Jackson and challenger Jeffery Smart dead-locked. Early voting continues through Friday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Liberty Center. Extended hour voting is the following Monday & Tuesday, June 10-11, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.


LeeCollege: This Wednesday Lee College will open their new office in Liberty at the Humphreys Cultural Center. A ribbon cutting will be at 10 a.m. and then open house will last until 2 p.m. That office will then become a regular facility of the community college, providing information on classes and services provided through the main campus at Baytown.  Officials from Lee College will be on hand to provide more information about the college and the new office here.
