Missing Woman Search: A Liberty County woman was found safe around midnight Saturday after becoming lost in the woods near the Trinity River. Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain Ken DeFoor said the hours-long search for Angela Taylor began Saturday night around 8:45 after receiving a call from her husband, David. The man reported his wife went missing after going in search of a new puppy that had wandered off from the couple’s backyard on County Road 2557. Captain DeFoor said that search for the missing woman included volunteers from both the Tarkington and Hardin fire departments. Angela Taylor was located around midnight Saturday by a Tarkington Fire Department rescue boat crew searching the Trinity River.

Liberty Library: The Liberty Municipal Library’s Summer Reading Program starts Monday, June 6, and all area children are invited to participate. In addition to keeping kids reading during the summer months, this free program features special activities each Thursday, starting June 17, with presentations from a variety of talented guests. Children’s Librarian Sue Lintelman said one change this year is to move the special entertainment to 2 p.m. each Thursday to avoid conflicting with vacation Bible schools and other summer activities generally held in the mornings. The Liberty Municipal Library’s Summer Reading program is free, but children need an up-to-date library card to check out books. Library cards are also free. For information, call the Liberty library at 936-336-8901 or stop by.
