HLSR Scholarships: The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo has released the names of this year’s scholarship recipients with a total of $108,000 going to Liberty County seniors. While seniors from all six high schools in Liberty County are eligible, this year’s scholarships are awarded to: three students from Dayton, Donovan Rogers, Jessica Bortner and Jonathan Godeaux-Hooker; two from Liberty, Cori Clevenger and Tierney Young; and one senior from Tarkington, Cameron Shew. Each receives an $18,000 four-year Metropolitan Scholarship from HLSR.

Missing not Forgotten: The amazing story that came out of Cleveland, Ohio, has led to thoughts of those local families who are quietly surviving their own missing loved one. In August 1997, Jessica Cain, formerly of Liberty, was last seen along I-45 in Galveston County on her way to her parent’s home, then in Tiki Island. Moving forward from ’97 to 2002, a Liberty woman, Patricia Small, was reported missing. Liberty police say they have not had any solid leads or evidence in Ms. Small’s case in the years since her disappearance.

Roll of Fame: Dayton Rotarian Josephine Perry became the first Dayton Rotary Club member to receive the Rotary Roll of Fame award for service to both her club and community.  The award was presented Thursday to Josephine Perry by Rotary District 5910 Governor Elect Don Taylor.

Dayton FFA Auction: The Dayton FFA Livestock Show auction is tomorrow.  The Dayton Young Farmers will hold a barbecue preceding the youth livestock auction. Serving starts at 11 a.m. with the auction Saturday at 1 p.m. Auctioneer is Brady Hanson.

Correction: Yesterday we reported on the Radiogram, voting in the Liberty City Council race would be held at the same location as the LISD election. Wrong. There is no Liberty City Council election. We regret the obvious error. Early voting in Dayton was 481 city and school, in Liberty ISD 216. Election Day is Saturday 7 to 7.

Obituaries: Tonja D. Randolph, 31 of Liberty. Services tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Turkey Creek Baptist Church in Liberty.
