Jessica Cain: It’s been 15 years since former Liberty County resident, 17-year-old Jessica Lee Cain, disappeared and her pickup truck was found abandoned along I-45 in La Marque. It has been widely reported that Jessica Cain was one of more than 30 young women and girls who either vanished or was murdered in an area around the Gulf Freeway in Galveston County that has become known as “The Killing Fields”. The Galveston Daily News newspaper reports that through donations and personal work, Cain’s friends recently built a small memorial and bench in La Marque near where her truck was found. It was dedicated during a vigil held this past Saturday. A friend was quoted as saying they hope the vigil will prompt someone to speak up and help solve the mystery.
