Batson Shooting: An 18 year old Batson man, Joseph James Enloe, is being held in the Hardin Co. Jail on a $300,000 bond, charged in the shooting death of his father, Keallon Ray Enloe, age 37. Hardin County Sheriffs Department Chief Deputy Denny Davenport said law enforcement were called to the Oil Patch Depot on Highway 105 at 770 in Batson Saturday night just after 10 p.m. where they found Keallon Enloe dead of a single gun shot wound to the chest.  Joseph James Enloe is charged with second degree manslaughter.

Wreck: Liberty Police report a multi-vehicle accident just before 7 a.m. Tuesday happened when a car made what police say was an unsafe lane change. That vehicle, twice struck an SUV, plowed through the median strip and was then hit by a pickup truck. That pickup truck then collided with the trailer of an 18-wheeler. One person, Michael Devereaux, 39 of Dayton, was taken to the hospital. Everyone else declined treatment.

Dayton City Council: Monday night, Dayton Mayor Felix Skarpa told council he would not be seeking a new term in May 2013.  He said he and his wife would be doing some traveling instead. In other action, Council members authorized City Secretary Melinda Soliday to proceed with the switch from paper to electronic agendas at an initial cost of between $10,000 and $12,000 for equipment and an annual cost of $3,000 for the service. Dayton City Manager David Douglas said moving to an electronic agenda is a lot less expensive these days than even five years ago.

Football: Dave Campbell’s 2012 Texas Football magazine reports the Dayton Broncos won’t miss a beat this season. Texas Football’s pre-season top 25 teams ranking has Dayton at #18 statewide followed closely by Summer Creek at #20. They will face off the final week of the regular season at Bronco Stadium.
