Wreck Investigation: The investigation into the six-vehicle crash on Hwy 90 at the 146 by-pass in Liberty on Monday is ongoing. Liberty Police say investigators have been told contradictory statements from witnesses to wreck. Now, Liberty Police are working to reconstruct the accident and determine which of the drivers involved was actually at fault.

Dayton ISD Jobs: The Dayton Independent School district is in gear up mode, getting ready for some 5,000 students to soon be roaming the halls. Mary Ellen Conner, Human Resources Director for D.I.S.D., said right now they have several openings for staff.  They are actively recruiting teachers, substitute teachers, drivers and support staff. Electrical Rates: The City of Liberty averages a cost of 10.5 cents per 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity.  Liberty Mayor Carl Pickett said when you compare the City of Liberty rates to others in this area, at mid range; he felt the rate charged by the city of Liberty was fair. A quick search of the website, power to choose, maintained by the Public Utility Commission of Texas, shows the average in this area ranges from 9 cents per 1,000 kilowatt hours to a high of over 13 cents. While Liberty proper is not listed in the comparison site, you can get pretty close by checking say, Crosby, to see what the various companies charge. The website is www.powertochoose.com.

Panther Practice: This coming Monday marks the start of Liberty Panther two a day football practice. Liberty Head Coach Shane Deel said players should be at the high school by 7 a.m. He said health concerns have prompted new guidelines for football practice this year including restrictions on how long different types of practice can last.  Coach Deel said the practice schedule followed by the Panthers for many years is not much different than the new restrictions set down by the University Interscholastic League.

Pruitt Retirement: The City of Dayton is hosting a retirement reception for longtime Municipal Judge Glenn Pruitt. The reception will be Friday August 10th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Dayton Community Center.
