Medicaid: It’s been widely reported Gov. Rick Perry says Texas will not participate in expanding the state Medicaid system under the federal Affordable Health Care Act. State Rep. John Otto said he agrees with the governor’s position. While the number of Texans eligible for Medicaid continues to grow rapidly, the Dayton Republican said a block grant of federal funding would be better than the federal government’s proposed Medicaid expansion. He said while states do have some control over what Medicaid services they provide, he feels individual states can come up with better health care solutions than the federal government.
