Since that falls on a weekend, those payments will be taken through Monday, July 2. Liberty County Tax Assessor Collector Ricky Brown said even paying a portion of any taxes owed will save taxpayers money. For information, call the Liberty County Tax Office at (936) 336-4633. **************************************************** Liberty City Council: KSHN reported Liberty City Council and Liberty Community Development Corporation met in joint session Tuesday night to discuss a proposed road extension. The road, which would be built in two phases, extends from Lakeland through undeveloped land to the Highway 146 Bypass. In addition to the possibility of construction of a new nursing home facility in that area, Liberty County Hospital District announced it’s in preliminary negotiations with a larger medical facility to partner on the construction of a new hospital facility in Liberty. The location for that new hospital would be on land made accessible with a new street from the bypass. **************************************************** Dayton VFD BBQ: Dayton volunteer firefighters will hold their annual fund-raiser BBQ tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plates are $10, which includes brisket and all the fixings.
