VOLUME 27, NO. 116 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20, 2012 **************************************************** Dayton City Council: Monday night, Dayton City Council approved $35,000 in Dayton Community Development Corporation funds to be added to another $7,395 from the city’s water and sewer fund for an extension of city services to bring city water and sewer to the east side of SH 146 S. CMC Railyard is adding a 4,000 square foot facility across from the railyard that is estimated to employ 20 full time. Bill Sjolander, owner of CMC, is covering most of the cost of that project. **************************************************** U.M. Army: A group of youth and adult volunteers from the Liberty 1st United Methodist Church, called U.M. Army, last week went to Friendswood, to make home repairs and build wheelchair ramps for those in need. Speaking about their mission trip, the local youths and their leaders said they experienced inner joy and took delight from the smiles they brought to the faces of their new friends. Nationwide, the 31-year-old organization has more than 4,000 people participating in about 1,700 projects each year. **************************************************** Gun, Knife, Coin Show: The second annual South Texas Gun, Knife and Coin Expo benefiting the Dayton Senior Center is coming up this weekend, 9-5 on Sat. and 10-5 on Sun, at the Dayton Community Center. Director Amanda Wilson said this year, there are even more vendors and a variety of off road and motor sports vehicles have been added. The expo features companies from all over Texas with displays of guns, knives, fishing gear, archery, handcrafted items, antiques, jewelry, buyers and sellers of collectible coins and more. Admission is $8. That recognition is the Masons’ highest award presented to an individual or group outside of the Masonic fraternity.
