Terroristic Threat: Theobert Gerard Jannisse, 32, of Liberty has been charged with making a terroristic threat of a government building or public entity. Liberty PD reports the man called 911 Wednesday morning claiming there were bombs at the Liberty County Courthouse and two Liberty schools. Authorities quickly determined the call was a hoax. Now, Theobert Jannisse is in the Liberty County Jail charged with a third-degree felony. JP Pct. 1 Bobby Rader set bond at $15,000.

Sales Tax Payments: Sales tax payments to cities across Liberty County are up 8.74 percent in June when compared to the same month last year. Statewide, sales tax income increased 7.5 percent. For these reports, sales taxes collected by retailers back in April go to the state in May and arrive back with each city’s share in June. These funds are used by local entities in their budgets. Locally, sales tax payments for June were up in Dayton, Cleveland, Daisetta, Devers, Hardin and Kenefick. Those Liberty County towns down in sales tax revenue this month are Liberty, Ames, North Cleveland and Plum Grove. For the first half of 2012, payments countywide are up 5.12 percent.

All-Star Game: Eleven high school athletes from Liberty and Chambers counties will participate in Saturday night’s Southeast Texas Ford Group All-Star Football Classic in Beaumont. Kickoff is tomorrow at 7 p.m. in Provost-Umprey Stadium on the Lamar University campus.
