VOLUME 27, NO. 106 WEDNESDAY, JUNE 6, 2012 **************************************************** New Hospital Administrator: On Monday, the Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center named a new administrator for the local hospital. James “Mr. Jim” Koulovatos comes to Liberty from Tulia, Texas. Liberty County Hospital District Board President Bruce Stratton said James Koulovatos worked the past ten years at the Swisher Hospital in Tulia. Current Interim CEO Ray Mason will stay on hand for a week or so to help Mr. Jim learn the ropes of the local facility. **************************************************** LISD Values: A jump in industrial market values at Boomerang Tube, Moss Bluff Hub Partners, DCP Southeast Texas and Nipsco, have contributed to a rise of 3.3 % for overall taxable values within the Liberty School District. Liberty County’s Chief Appraiser Alan Conner said net taxable values for Liberty ISD are expected to increase from $817.5 million in 2011 to a new estimated final value of $844.5 million this year. **************************************************** Vote Recount: Unofficial voting results in a three way race for Liberty County Constable Precinct #3 ended with no candidate getting more than 50% of the vote. Therefore, Incumbent Danny Frankum and his nearest Challenger Tommy Koen are set for a run off on July 31. According to Liberty County Clerk Paulette Williams the vote was Frankum 590 to Koen 396. So, Danny Frankum asked for the recount in hopes a run off election might be avoided. When the recount was finished, there was no change in the vote tallies for Danny Frankum or Tommy Koen. The outcome of the GOP race for Precinct #3 constable remains unchanged. So Danny Frankum and Tommy Koen are still set for a run off election on Tuesday July 31. There is no democrat running for that position so the run off election will determine the constable for that Hardin-Moss Hill area for the next four years. **************************************************** Softball Camp: There will be a late registration this Sunday evening for next week’s Liberty Lady Panther’s softball camp. Late registration will be Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the high school practice field. Camp cost is $55. Call 334-7911. **************************************************** Obituaries: Danielle St. Laurent Griffin, 39 of Hull. Memorial tomorrow from 1-4 p.m. at Nolan Pickett V.F.W. Post #5621 in Liberty. **************************************************** *Lake Release: 1,170 CFS – Liberty Bridge: 6.33 ASL* |
