VOLUME 27, NO. 102 FRIDAY, JUNE 1, 2012 **************************************************** Search: KSHN reported an 18-year-old girl, Amber Georgous, who went missing Wednesday night, was found yesterday morning following an hour’s long search. It turns out the teenager was at another girls home, but that news came after a lot of resources had already been put in place for an extensive search. Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain Rex Evans said that search began after her parents reported finding the teen’s abandoned car on a sandbar along the Trinity River near the Hwy 105 bridge. She is said to have left a party near the river when a number of fights broke out among the party-goers. The investigation into the incident and the disturbance is ongoing but Captain Evans said alcohol played a role in the whole incident. **************************************************** Property Values: KSHN reported the Liberty County Central Appraisal District is projecting the final property values county wide will be down from last year. However, Liberty County Chief Appraiser Alan D. Conner said total property values in the City of Liberty are projected to be up 2.62 percent, while on the other hand, values in the City of Dayton are expected to fall more than 11 %. Other towns with property value increases are Daisetta, Devers and the portion of Mt. Belvieu within Liberty County’s boundaries. Other local cities where property values have fallen include Ames, Cleveland, Dayton Lakes and Hardin. **************************************************** Hurricane Workshop: Today is the start of Hurricane Season! The Liberty County Office of Emergency Management along with Emergency Managers for the cities of Cleveland and Liberty will host the annual Hurricane Preparedness Workshop next Thursday at 6 p.m. at Liberty City Hall. Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Branch said it’s important for area residents to understand that it will most likely take at least 72 hours after a storm clears our area for county officials to begin distributing the first shipments of food and water. There is no charge to attend the workshop. **************************************************** Obituaries: Connie Sue Storey Boleware, 42 of Saratoga.
